    Student chapter is one of the major chapters for "swecha".This chapter consists of around 500 students working on free softwares. Among all the achievements of swecha the remarkable achievement was the creation of an operating system for engineers "e-swecha" which was done by the engineering students and was released on 2nd october 2008.

   "swecha" other than contributing for free software lays a platform for students with encouraging them by providing guidance to the academic projects and by the formation of GLUG(Gnu/Linux Users' Group) in engineering colleges. The main activities of students happen in these glugs at college level. At state level these glugs have a chance to put forward their ideas and in a democratic way the ideas are put into action.
